Gareth and his wife, Lynn, live on-site at Chanco and made Cursillo #152 in the Diocese of Southern Virginia.

Will “Hutch” Hutchisson

DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS

Hutch grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, and is a recent graduate of the College of Charleston, where he majored in International Business and minored in Spanish and Sustainability. Hutch shared, “When I think about what was most formative about my college years, the answer is undeniably camp. My camp roots began forming when I was eleven. Over the years, I never took for granted what it meant to be a part of the types of communities that camp forms. After spending the past four summers helping to lead and build community at Camp Kanuga, I’m excited to become a part of Chanco. The love and joy experienced at camp is unlike any other, and to have the opportunity to serve on a staff that facilitates such experiences is incredibly exciting.”

Cam Ballinger

ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR

Cam grew up in Suffolk, Virginia and attends Roanoke College where he runs track and studies Education and Religion. He’s a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, VA. This is his 11th summer at Chanco on the James and 3rd year on staff. Cam loves all things outdoors and aquatics. He sails a mean sailboat and always abides by the pirate’s code. If Cam could have any superpower, it would be Quicksilver’s speed from X-Men, and he dreams of sailing across the Pacific to go to Hawaii. Cam shared, “Since coming to camp, I have found a spiritual home and an amazing place where I have the most happiness. I think Chanco is the kind of place where you can find out who you are in the outdoors while immersed in an outstanding, loving community. Spiritually, mentally, and physically it is my favorite place.”
