Whether you’re planning a solo retreat, a family getaway, or a group retreat for your church or organization, Chanco offers custom retreat packages to suit your needs and wants.
Aside from our popular lineup of programs, which include LEAD Peninsula, All Saints’ Vestry, and Tidewater Community College Student Ambassadors (just to name a few), we’re thrilled to host up to 60 other groups annually for their special events. From parish retreats to Cursillo, diocesan youth gatherings to Happening, and weddings to family reunions – you name it, Chanco welcomes all with open arms to create unforgettable memories year after year.

Planning Your Retreat
With space for 70 guests in cozy double occupancy rooms, complete with climate control and private restrooms, your stay promises relaxation and ease. For larger groups of up to 192, our charming rustic chalets nestled in our picturesque campsites provide a unique and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, our two houses offer fully equipped kitchens and spacious meeting areas, ensuring all your needs are met during your stay. Looking for a more rustic experience? Feel free to bring your own tent or indulge in the comfort of our chalets – the choice is yours!

Activities and Pricing
Retreat-in-a-Box Program
Chanco has skilled facilitators who will organize and support your retreat. An experienced Christian educator will present material, lead open discussions, train small group leaders, and provide age appropriate ideas and materials for you group.
Pricing:
- One day: $350
- Two days: $500
- Three days: $750
Swimming at Chanco
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. There is no lifeguard on duty, so please swim at your own risk
Pricing:
- Swimming pool: $50/day
- Lifeguard fee: (unless a certified lifeguard within your group and Aquatics Waiver signed)
Boating on the James River
All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No river use after 6pm. Life jackets must be worn at all times. We can accommodate up to 18 participants.
Pricing:

Kayaks: $10/person per day

Lifeguard fee: $200 (unless a certified lifeguard within your group and Aquatics Waiver signed)
Ropes Courses
A typical ropes course adventure lasts roughly 1.5 – 2 hours. Ask about our combo packages to experience multiple challenges for a longer adventure. In addition to participant fees, an instructor fee of $200/day is required – covers groups up to 30 people.
